Enter for a Chance to Win Tickets to Junie B. Jones, The Musical at Adventure Theatre!

A beloved children’s book character is coming to the Adventure Theatre stage, as Junie B. Jones, The Musical opens this weekend and runs through March 30.  Even better, you have a chance to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to see it!

It is Junie B.’s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie’s friend, Lucille, does not want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting. Featuring a tremendously loveable character and fun-filled songs, Junie B. Jones will capture your audience members’ hearts just as the books captivated an entire generation of students.

Tickets for Junie B. Jones, The Musical are $25 and can be purchased online.  You can also try to win them through the giveaway below.

InterACT Story Theatre Presents “The Hero of EVERYTHING” + a Ticket Giveaway!

As we soar into September, InterAct Story Theatre is bringing back a fan-favorite show to make the trip even more fun for children — and I have three Family 4-Packs of tickets to see it up for grabs!

The Hero of EVERYTHING explores the importance of teamwork and the perils of trying to do everything yourself.  This action-packed interactive play is performed by three actors on stage and a whole team of superheroes in the audience, who join in to become part of the action to save the day in Citytown City.

Who needs a sidekick or a team when you can do everything yourself, and do it just the way it should be? Captain Everything loves saving the day and doesn’t need anyone’s help to do it. Sure, she has an Amazing Alliance of Superheroes, but no one minds if she just does everything herself. Or do they? What happens when everyone else gets tired of being left out of everything and quits? And what happens when Captain Everything faces something she can’t do? Can she face her fears and cooperate with her team to save Citytown City? Or will it be too late?

Parents come away from the show with activities in the playbill they can use to explore the ideas in the play. Kids come away with an amazing superhero adventure and an invitation to create adventures of their own to share.

The Hero of EVERYTHING will run at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring, MD, September 23-October 2. Public performances are on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Recommended for ages 5 and up, tickets are $13.50 (free for ages 3 and under).

Giveaway: Win a Family Visit to Crystalline at ARTECHOUSE!

Immerse in Crystalline at ARTECHOUSE

ARTECHOUSE, the gallery in Southwest DC known for its visually stunning and immersive digital art, just announced that its current exhibition, Crystalline, has been extended through February.  Even better, you have a chance to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to experience it!

Crystalline has transformed the gallery into a blue-hued haven intended to evoke calm and peace during a turbulent time.  Large scale projections on the walls of the main gallery and smaller ones in side areas engage and enchant as they encourage play.   Just about all of it is interactive, as the images change with viewers’ motions. Immersing into the depths of the color, even just for a little while, is a dazzling and delightful escape from the bizarre Covid world outside.

ARTECHOUSE is taking extra measures to ensure safety in response to Covid-19.  Capacity is limited, guests must wear masks,  directional signage helps social distancing, there are hand sanitizing stations, and cleaning and disinfecting takes place hourly.  You can read more about their safety policies here.

Crystalline is running at ARTECHOUSE through February 28, 2021.  Tickets are $19-24/adult, $12-15/child, $17-20/students, seniors, military & first responders (the lower price for online advance tickets, higher at the door).  Children under 4 are free.

Giveaway: American Pops Orchestra Presents “The Pied Piper” this Winter!

The American Pops Orchestra will kick off the New Year with another one-of-its-kind performance for kids and kids at heart. APO’s The Pied Piper will add a musical element to the classic story by placing the Piper in a town where music and dancing aren’t allowed. Piper, reimagined as a woman in this production, will have a tricky time convincing the locals that music can solve their rat problem, but if they keep their promise of a hefty reward, things just might work out!

The performance will spotlight outstanding actors from around our region. Featuring songs that we all know and love, including “9 to 5,” “Think,” “I Put a Spell on You,” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”

The show is perfect for pre-K through fifth grade students — and adults will love it, too. APO brings fun, engaging activities for the whole family!

The Pied Piper performances are on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11am and 2pm at Arena Stage (1101 6th Street SW, WDC). Tickets are $17/child, $32/adult, and they make for perfect holiday gifts! They are available for purchase online, and of course, you can also enter the giveaway below for a chance to win a pair.
