Local Deals with Family Appeal

When it rains, it pours.  Such is the case with the latest offerings from our local deal sites. Discounts on everything from IMAX movies to holiday entertainment to mani/pedis for kids landed in my inbox this morning. And in case they didn’t make it to yours, here’s the scoop on all of them.

Groupon: See a movie in 3-D at one of Smithsonian’s IMAX Theaters for just $4. That’s a $5 savings off the regular price for tickets. KFDC has reviews on Born to Be Wild 3-D and Grand Canyon Adventure 3-D, both currently playing at the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX Theater located in the Museum of Natural History.

LivingSocial: Admission to the National Zoo’s annual light show may be free, but this ZooLights Package for 4 deal gets you all the extras. For $28 get parking, plus four ice skating tickets with skate rental, four hot chocolates, and four train rides. (Scroll down to their “families” section for the offer.)

Plum District: It’s just about time to start thinking about putting the kids’ smiling face on holiday greeting cards. And for $20 you can get $40 worth of holiday cards, invitations, and more from Pear Tree Greetings to save some money on them.

Juice in the City: What a fun treat this is for kids! For $24 get a kid’s mani/pedi spa package at Cafe Kids Spa. If my daughter were a little older, I’d snatch it up in a second.

Certifikid: This site currently has a bunch of awesome deals available right now — $20 for holiday ornaments and studio time at Clay Cafe of Chantilly, 60% off Gymboree classes, $7 to Port Discovery in Balitmore, and more! Go check ’em all out here.

The Juice on Two New Deals

Since Juice in the City launched in DC a couple of weeks ago, they consistently have been offering great deals on local goods and services for families. Today is no exception; in fact, they have TWO new deals that moms, especially, will appreciate.

The first involves a little pampering.  For just $12, you can get a manicure or brow wax at Toka Salon and Day Spa in Alexandria.  I keep hearing good things  about Toka’s newest location — Washingtonian Magazine recently ranked it among its 30 favorite spas — and this will be a great opportunity to see for myself. The deal is over tomorrow, so get in on it soon!

As for the second offer, I’ve got one word for you: shoes.  For $25, you can get $50 worth of designer shoes and accessories at Zelaya Shoes in Bethesda.  Go browse the store’s website to see their variety of brand name footwear for women, men, and kids. This deal is also over tomorrow, so if you want to get your kicks for less, don’t wait to get the offer.

Happy savings… and shopping!

A Winner & Some Juicy Deals

Juice in the City officially launched in Washington, DC, today with two fantastic deals. Time to get started on the savings! We also have a winner from the giveaway from a couple of days ago, who will receive $25 in JuiceBucks credit.

First, the deals:

– Pay just $10 for $20 at Groovy DC Cards & Gifts. If you haven’t been, Groovy is great little shop on Capitol Hill, just down the street from Eastern Market.  It’s one of my go-to spots for fun gifts and greeting cards.

– Pay $30 for a Class, Free Play, Open Gym, or Trampoline Room Usage at MarVa Tots ‘n Teens located in Rockville. I haven’t been here, but being a fan of free play and open gym sessions, this is a great opportunity to check it out.

And, finally, congratulations to KFDC reader, Janet, who won $25 in JuiceBucks credit to use toward Juice in the City deal purchases.

Happy savings, everyone!

Note: If you received a post about a discount code, my apologies, but that code is not applicable at this time.

Juice in the City Bringing New Deals – and a Giveaway – to Local Moms!

If you ask me, there’s no such thing as too many deal sites. Especially when one “aims to bring moms what they really want: insanely good deals on crazy-fun things to do.”

This is what Juice in the City, launching in District and surrounding areas any day now, has planned for local moms. They’re already bringing big discounts to more than 10 other cities around the country on everything from food to kid fun to spa treatments to fashion. Now we get to get in on the savings, too.

Even better, to celebrate the DC launch of Juice in the City, I’m giving away $25 in JuiceBucks to use toward any purchase to one lucky winner.  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling me what kinds of deals you love (feel free to be as specific as you want), then go here and subscribe to Juice in the City.  You can also get updates on Facebook and Twitter, but you still need to subscribe through the website to enter the giveaway.

The contest will run through Tuesday, and I’ll announce the winner, who will be selected from a random drawing, on Wednesday morning.

Good luck, and happy savings!
