Learn Chess & Have Fun with Magnus Chess Academy!

You might know Magnus Academy from the chess clubs they run in more than 350 schools across the DMV.  But did you know that they also have an online Academy program that serves students from all 50 states?  Despite the national footprint, they’re a locally owned small business, and they have a special offer for KFDC readers!

Between now and Small Business Saturday, November 30, sign up for one month of the Academy with the coupon code “KidSBS” and get the second month free!

The program is great for either beginners or students with an established interest in chess.

Curious about what a class looks like? Try one out for $5 first!
If you’re not sure if online classes are a good fit for your child, they have an easy $5 trial class. This is a perfect way to see how it works, and how fun an online class can be. You can sign up for a trial class here.

The classes take place online in the fun and highly participatory Chessable Classroom, which looks like this:

How does the online academy work?

1. New students start with a quick assessment to figure out what level classes they should take starting with Pawns (how do you play chess?).

2. Families can build their own schedule for weekly semi-private classes. There are classes Mondays through Saturdays for each level, so that you’ll definitely be able to find good (and flexible) times that work for your family. Take a look at the 90 weekly class times here. Experienced coaches (read about them here!) keep the classes engaging, approachable, and fun for the students.

3. There are lots of extra ways to stay engaged with chess between classes! These include weekly bonus activities, a ChessKid gold membership, and special events with guests including a 5x world champion, the best female player of all time, and four different US Champions!

This Small Business Saturday sale is a great way to start chess! A few more things to know:

* Cost is $99/month.
* The academy is month-to-month with no long term commitment.
* Start anytime and stop any time.
* If you join the academy, and for whatever reason it’s not the right fit, cancel in your first two weeks for a full refund.

Sign up here — and remember to use the coupon code “KidSBS” for your second month free!
