Current Deals for Families

There are some great family deals currently available. Here’s where you can get in on them.

What’s the Deal: $8 for tickets to a baseball game. See the Nats play the pirates on May 17 or 18 for 50% off.

LivingSocial DC Family Edition: $150 for a pizza party for up to 20 kids at select Potomac Pizza locations. When you consider how much kids parties can end up costing these days, this is a great deal.

Mamapedia: Just $4 for admission to storytime at The Kreeger Museum. And don’t forget to select a school to receive a donation of 5% of your purchase.  See the website for details on both the offer and their Savings for Schools program.

Plum District: $150 for a Two-Day Football Camp with Redskins Great Charles Mann, 7/16-17.  This is a 50% discount from the regular price.

Certifikid: $25 for a Ticket to Massanutten WaterPark.  We visited last summer, and both kids and parents had a fantastic time.

Happy Savings!

I *Heart* a Good Deal

I don’t know if it’s the holiday or what, but many local deal sites are sharing the family savings love.  Check out these deals…there’s bound to be one you’ll fall for.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’ll start with this one for all the moms from Groupon, since it’s especially fantastic: $15 for a Bathhouse Day Pass at Spa World ($35 value).  I haven’t been yet myself, but have heard and read only good things, including this review from Darcy at No Monsters in My Bed.

And here’s one for everybody, because who doesn’t love ice cream — particularly when it’s FREE? I just discovered this no-brainer of an offer from Homerun.com:  Get a FREE soft-serve ice cream cone at ACKC.  That’s right, FREE!  Once you get your voucher, it is good through the end of March at two area locations — 14th Street NW and Alexandria.  As far as I can tell, there’s no catch; it’s simply a terrific, delicious deal.

LivingSocial’s DC Family Edition has a new deal today:  $13 for Two Tickets to the Capital Home & Garden Show (that’s 50% off).  Seeing this deal prompted me to check out the event, and it’s apparently a family-friendly expo, with activities for kids, including an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog from PBS.  Tickets for kids ages 6-12 are just $3, and it’s free for children 5 and under.  More information about the show is available on the website.

I’m psyched about this offer from What’s the Deal, since it’s for one of our go-to restaurants for dining out with the kids.  For $15 get $30 worth of BBQ and drinks at Old Glory in Georgetown.  You might know this place best from your days of M Street bar-hopping, but if you go for lunch or on the early side of dinner, you’ll see it from a whole other (sober) perspective, one that’s more than suitable for a family meal.  If this is your first time getting a deal on this site, feel free to use my referral link to sign up!

If you’re looking for a unique gift idea or a wonderful keepsake, check out Plum District’s “Everywhere” deal: $97 for a custom-made T-shirt blanket ($175 value).  And, no, this isn’t a cheaper version of a Snuggie. It’s a specially designed quilt using your favorite T-shirts and other wearables.  My husband has a blanket like this that his grandmother made for him, and it’s a something to cherish, made literally from the fabric of his childhood.

Finally, you can still get in on Eversave’s deal that I posted about on Facebook and Twitter last week:  Get 55% off a weekend stay on the Chesapeake Bay.  It’s just $145 for a night at Bob Pascal’s St. Michaels Harbour Inn, Marina and Spa, a resort that gets great reviews on Trip Advisor.  If you book today, use the promo code VALENTINE at checkout and get an additional $4 off.
