Monday – Get a unique dose of nature in the city at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in northeast DC. Go on a nature walk among the ponds filled with giant lily pads and other interesting marsh plants and look for geese, great blue herons, turtles, frogs, and tiny fish on the way. Open 9am – 5pm this time of year, and admission is free.

Tuesday – Enjoy Stories from Strawberry Park in the Mosaic District. The series presents live interactive performances for children ages 10 and under every Tuesday 10-11am. After, stay to splash in the fountain and/or grab a bite to eat at one of the many eateries. Admission is free.

Wednesday – Visit the digs of first POTUS George Washington at Mount Vernon in Alexandria. Get there by 11am for Story Time in Hands-on-History, a program for especially for young children. Special tours are also available throughout the day, or you can roam the grounds on your own. The estate and gardens are open daily 8am – 5pm. Admission is $17/adult, $9/ages 6-11, free for children 5 and under.

Thursday – Be among the first visitors to explore the National Geographic Museum’s newest exhibit. Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology: The Exhibition will feature real, fascinating archaeological artifacts, along with an extensive collection of original Indiana Jones™ film materials that will take you on the adventure of a lifetime. The exhibit will run May 14, 2015 – January 3, 2016. Admission is $11/adult, $7/ages 5-12, free for 4 and under. That also gets you into Monster Fish: In Search of the Last River Giants, a super fun and interesting exhibit for all ages.

Friday – See a fairytale classic on strings at The Puppet Co., where Cinderella is the current Main Stage production. Showtimes are 10am and 11:30am. Tickets are $10.
