The Newseum Summer Fun Deal Starts…Now!

The Newseum's state-of-the-art space is just as impressive as the host of extraordinary exhibits

The Newseum’s state-of-the-art space is just as impressive as the myriad remarkable exhibits

Good news! The Summer Fun Deal, the Newseum’s yearly program that waives the $12.95 admission for youth visitors 18 and under, begins today! From now through Labor Day, up to four kids can get in for free with each paid adult or senior admission, or Press Pass membership. And like all Newseum tickets, Summer Fun Deal tickets are valid for two consecutive days.

I highly recommend taking advantage of this deal — the Newseum is one of the most impressive museums in DC, in my opinion. Dedicated to all things news and media, exhibits cover everything from the Berlin Wall to Pulitzer Prize winning photos to 9/11 to the First Amendment. If this sounds heavy for younger children, there are plenty of lighter elements for them to enjoy: They can pretend to be a TV news reporter, view an exhibit about presidential pets, see all kinds of paraphernalia from presidential races, and ride up the glass hydraulic elevator then get a grand view of DC from the balcony.

The great thing about the two-day tickets is that you can go with the kids one day, then go back the next day by yourself to really take it all in (which is what I did the first time I brought my kiddos there).

The Newseum is located at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Hours are 9am – 5pm daily. Admission for adults is $21.95, and it’s always free for children 6 and under. For directions and more information, visit the Newseum website.
