Shutdown Pick-Me-Up: Free Sunday Dinner at Whole Foods Market

whole_foods

With no end in sight to the government shutdown, Whole Foods Market is working to support local communities. Because federal workers are not just customers – they‘re neighbors, partners, family and friends.

Area Whole Foods Markets are offering up their stores to the community. Furloughed or not, if you’re looking for a place to spend extra time or gather with friends, doors will be open with even more free samples, Wi-Fi, and seats.

And this evening, everyone is invited to a FREE family dinner. From 5:30-7pm you stop by Whole Foods Markets in DC, Virginia, or Maryland for a spaghetti dinner on them.

In the meantime, they’ll have more events to help fill free time. Whole Foods Market is also encouraging people to get out and enjoy other local businesses that could use some support.

What: A Shutdown Pick-Me-Up — Get together with neighbors at a FREE Spaghetti Dinner
Where: Whole Foods Market stores in DC, Virginia, and Maryland
When: Sunday, October 6, 5:30-7 pm

No Goverment Shutdown; All Scheduled Activities Are On

As you’ve likely heard by now, Congressional leaders came to an agreement at the 11th hour last night and averted  a government shutdown.

Not only does this mean there will be no furloughs for government employees, it also keeps museum and national parks open, which means all activities scheduled for this weekend — museum and Cherry Blossom Festival events included — will be happening.  Great news for all of us who have been looking forward to the White House Garden Tours, Blossom Kite Festival, the new IMAX Born to Be Wild 3D opening at the Natural History Museum, and many more fun activities that would have been canceled.

I’m also psyched to know that my local library will stay open and my trash will be picked up.
