Five Things: August 28, 2024

1. Did you know there is a Drum Circle every Sunday in Malcolm X Park, aka Meridian Hill Park, located at the borders of Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights?  It had been years since I’d been to one, and I actually didn’t even know they were still happening until I heard it going on when I was walking nearby last weekend after running an errand in the area.  Every week people come together to drum and dance, and others might be juggling, doing some yoga nearby, or enjoying a picnic in the large grassy area.  It begins at 3pm every Sunday and goes until 5pm. All ages are welcome.

2. The grande finale of Movies on the Pitch, the open air cinema series at Audi Field this summer, is tomorrow, August 29, at 7:30pm.  Enjoy a special screening of Wonka at this final installment. Gates open at 6:30pm, with concessions available for purchase throughout the evening. Tickets are free with reservation, and it’s general admission for both the pitch and the stands — access to the pitch is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. There’s a brand new KFDC round-up of live entertainment coming to the DC area over the next few months!

4. A bunch of good early Labor Day sales: Wayfair up to 70% off,  Backcountry up to 60% off, Janie & Jack up to 70% off, Zappos shoes and more up to 60% off, Aviator Nation 40% off, Anthro 40% off sale, Gap 40-50% off (including lots of good kids’ stuff!), Crate & Barrel up to 60% off.

5. In case you haven’t seen it yet… big life update.
