1. Merriment is on the way… Ren Fest begins this weekend! Anyone who has been reading KFDC awhile surely knows that the Maryland Renaissance Festival is my very favorite annual event in the DC area. I’ve written about it a lot, so you can get more specifics and tips for navigating it all here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, or here. This year’s faire runs every weekend from August 24 through October 20. Tickets are $14/age 7-15, $26/age 16+ from August 24 – September 18, and $18/age 7-15, $32/age 16+ from September 16 – October 22 (free for ages 6 and under). View some scenes from last year here. Huzzah!
2. The circus is also coming to town! The Hideaway Circus 2024 tour is bringing their all-new outdoor show, Canvas Sky, to the DC area this coming Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25. A blend of circus nostalgia with a contemporary storyline, the show is set to a backdrop of original music, plus there’s popcorn, cotton candy, and clowns fused with world-class acrobatics and a gripping plot, all taking place under the vast canopy of the sky and stars. It’s an immersive sensory experience for audiences of all ages. Tickets are $25/general admission (BYO seating), $45/reserved seating, $65/VIP seating.
3. Have you been shark tooth hunting this summer? If not (or even if you have), I highly recommend it. Not only is it a super fun activity, you can enjoy some beach time, too. Here’s a round-up of places to go!
4. Bruce Springsteen is finally playing at Nationals Park on September 7! (The concert was originally supposed to be a year ago, then it was rescheduled for last fall, then changed again.) Tickets have been sold out for awhile, but you can find resale tix here.
