Five Things for Today: October 1, 2020

One way to celebrate World Postcard Day!

1. There’s a new kind of drive-in in the area for the next few days. The Parking Lot Social is a touring experience which packs a bunch of exciting entertainment into one night out. They’ve created a spectacular event space and overloaded it with a program of immersive and interactive entertainment that’s broadcast from the stage straight to your car. From a ‘SocialKids’ daytime program to evening and late night events that include Family Movies, Car-A-Oke, Silent Discos, and more, there is something for everyone. It will all take place at Springfield Town Center through October 4.

2. Today is World Postcard Day (thanks to the National Postal Museum for the heads up)! Make it inspiration for sending postcards to special people in your life. (Or maybe even people you don’t know… try a quick Google search to see if there are any postcard writing campaigns to help with for the election!)

3. Capitol Riverfront BID is celebrating National Walk Your Dog Week with a Pawp-Up Scavenger Hunt today from 4-7pm. Taking your favorite four-legged friend on a walk around the neighborhood. Stop by all three of the public dog runs to pick up fun prizes and socialize with other pet owners (at a safe social distance). Finish your walk at a surprise location where treats form Woofbowl & the Swizzler Hotdog Truck will be waiting for you and your pup. Tune in to their Facebook page at 3pm for your first clue!

4. Groupon has some cool deals right now for autumn fun around the area.

5. Something light, poppy, and fun: Jimmy Fallon and The Roots get in the song on the moment.
