Oh, Christmas Tree Lottery

"The tree is cool, but shouldn't there be presents for me under it?"

I know what you’re thinking:  There’s still a bag full of uneaten Halloween candy hidden in the cabinet, the kids’ costumes are balled up on the floor waiting to be cleaned, a  jack o’ lantern is sinking in on itself out on the front porch…  and someone’s mentioning Christmas?!

That’s right.  I am talking about Christmas.  But in no way should it make you feel like a slacker on your holiday preparations (seriously, I still have yet to make Thanksgiving plans); rather, I’m just giving you a heads-up on something that could make your season a little bit brighter — and make you feel like your family hit the DC holiday jackpot.

This year’s National Christmas Tree Lighting will take place on December 9 at 5pm, and you have a chance to be a part of it.  Every year, tickets to the ceremony are issued via lottery —  3,000 seats and 10,000 standing admissions will be distributed to the lucky winners.  That lottery will be open TOMORROW, November 5, through Sunday, November 7.  To enter the lottery, visit the National Christmas Tree website.  Results will be announced on Wednesday, November 10, and you can check back on the website to see if you got an early Christmas present.

Good Luck!
