Lace up your running shoes! Kids and adults are invited to join the Race & Festival for World Peace this Saturday, October 23. The event benefits Sister Cities International’s mission to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation.
The unique 5K race/walk travels through the Foggy Bottom neighborhood and will be followed by a World Culture Festival. The race begins at 9am, and a Kids Fun Run for children ages 5 – 13 will take place around 10am. Online pre-registration is closed, but you can sign up on the day of — $35/adult, $20/youth. Or, you can register at Potomac River Running Store in Arlington for $25/adult, $10/youth.
Promoting peace through cultural understanding and the performing arts, the festival will feature music, dance, and spoken word performances from numerous cultures. There will be also be international food and a tent sponsored by Washington Parent with children’s activities, performers, and fun for the whole family.
Sister Cities International is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between U.S. and international communities. They strive to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development.
