InterACT Story Theatre Presents “The Hero of EVERYTHING” + a Ticket Giveaway!

As we soar into September, InterAct Story Theatre is bringing back a fan-favorite show to make the trip even more fun for children — and I have three Family 4-Packs of tickets to see it up for grabs!

The Hero of EVERYTHING explores the importance of teamwork and the perils of trying to do everything yourself.  This action-packed interactive play is performed by three actors on stage and a whole team of superheroes in the audience, who join in to become part of the action to save the day in Citytown City.

Who needs a sidekick or a team when you can do everything yourself, and do it just the way it should be? Captain Everything loves saving the day and doesn’t need anyone’s help to do it. Sure, she has an Amazing Alliance of Superheroes, but no one minds if she just does everything herself. Or do they? What happens when everyone else gets tired of being left out of everything and quits? And what happens when Captain Everything faces something she can’t do? Can she face her fears and cooperate with her team to save Citytown City? Or will it be too late?

Parents come away from the show with activities in the playbill they can use to explore the ideas in the play. Kids come away with an amazing superhero adventure and an invitation to create adventures of their own to share.

The Hero of EVERYTHING will run at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring, MD, September 23-October 2. Public performances are on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Recommended for ages 5 and up, tickets are $13.50 (free for ages 3 and under).

Ticket Giveaway: InterAct Story Theatre Presents “Bobtail Bong Bong: A Monkey’s Tale”

InterAct Story Theatre is kicking off a new season of family entertainment in Silver Spring with an interactive theater experience — and a chance to win tickets to be a part of it!

Bobtail Bong Bong: A Monkey’s Tale is a world premiere play created especially for early childhood audiences. In this unique, interactive forum theatre experience for children (and the grownups who love them), kids call the shots and make the choices — and the characters try out their ideas to see if they work!

Bob the Monkey is the smartest monkey in the land, and they want everyone to know it! Bob the Monkey wants what they want and they want it NOW! But…why is everyone mad at Bob? Bob didn’t do anything! In this interactive forum theatre experience for kids and families, audiences follow Bob’s madcap misadventures and help Bob figure out where they went wrong and got in trouble monkeying around. Led by InterAct’s Artistic Director Ali Oliver-Krueger, audience members make suggestions about how Bob could do things differently, and watch Bob and friends role play out their ideas. Can Bob flip the script and turn things around? Can Bob make things better by making better choices? Does it work? What happens next?

Bobtail Bong Bong: A Monkey’s Tale runs September 20-28 at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring, MD. Tickets are $12.50/adult, $10/age 4-11, free/ages 3 and under. Recommended for ages 4+.

*Go early with your kids for crafts and pre-show activities that opens 30 minute before the performance, and stick around afterwards for a meet-and-greet with the actors — a great time to get autographs, take pictures, and tell them your favorite part of the show! .

InterAct Story Theatre is returning to Silver Spring with a whole new season of family entertainment. They are kicking it all off with a sci-fi adventure and a great ticket giveaway for KFDC readers!

Voytto Tech: a scifi fable combines science and technology with a story exploring the tough topics of bullying and social inequity. Klipp Casey travels from a planet far, far away to study at Voytto Tech, the most famous science magnet school in the galaxy. Ticket Giveaway! InterAct Story Theatre Presents “The Legend of Pufferfish Pat: A Tall Tale for Mad Times”

InterAct Story Theatre is returning to Silver Spring with a whole new season of family entertainment. First in the line-up this September: The Legend of Pufferfish Pat: A Tall Tale for Mad Times. And you have a chance to win tickets to see it! In fact, I have four Family 4-Packs of tickets to give away to KFDC readers.

So, what’s a cowpoke to do when you’re so mad you could bust a gut? And how do you wrangle those angry feelings before you blow up? Those are the questions at the heart of The Legend of Pufferfish Pat: A Tall Tale for Mad Times, with a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy tale for kids about anger management.

Photo by Steve Wolf, InterAct Story Theatre

In this production we meet Pufferfish Pat, a legendary cowboy hero who can outride, outrope, and outrun just about anything — except his own hair-trigger temper! When Pat gets angry, he blows up like a Pufferfish, which gets him a nickname he hates and bad reputation he doesn’t want. He wants to be a friend to everyone and stay cool as a cucumber…he just doesn’t know how! And with the little town of Gravy Gulch heating up for the annual Great Gravy Cookoff and Fashion Festival, it’s more important than ever that Pat keep his cool! Where can he go to find folks who might understand or help him with this ornery problem? And what happens when black hat cowboy One-Eyed Jack rolls back into town, looking to get Pat run out of town for good? Will Pat be able to get a hold of his mean temper in time, or is it adios, Gravy Gulch?

The play is performed by three actors appearing as many different characters in and around the dusty town of Gravy Gulch, with help from the whole audience, who get to become the cowpokes and townsfolk of Gravy Gulch right from where you sit!

The Legend of Pufferfish Pat: A Tall Tale for Mad Times runs September 8-23 at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring. Tickets are $12.50/ages 12 and up, $10/ages 4-11, and children under 3 are free. Of course, you can also try to win them though the giveaway below!

InterAct Story Theatre is bringing back a favorite from their repertory to entertain young audiences this September! One Gold Coin–una moneda de oro is a fun and engaging play for kids and families about the power of giving, performed in English and Spanish with lots of audience participation.

Could the magic of giving be locked inside one little coin? When the wise old healer Doña Teresa comes to Regalo, she carries a gold coin that brings magic to everyone that holds it — but it must be given to one who truly needs it. But how do you decide who has the greatest need? And who does the coin’s magic benefit most — the one who receives it, or the one who gives it away?
