Imagination Stage, the metro DC region’s largest professional theatre for children, has a packed fall season with 6-week classes for ages 1 and up, plus “a charming musical adaptation” (Md Theatre Guide) of Winnie the Pooh running through October 27.
Imagination Stage offers unique “You & Me” classes for students ages 1-5 to take with their caregiver, in which families use props, music, movement, and sensory play to explore different creative themes. The multi-sensory play approach in these classes help strengthen the bond between caretaker and child, promote development of language and motor skills, and encourage associative play. “You & Me” 6-week classes running this fall include You & Me: Under the Sea and You & Me: On the Farm, plus bilingual options in both Spanish/English and ASL/English.
Imagination Stage also offers options for ages 3 and up in creative drama, musical theatre, and dance, led by a team of dedicated and highly trained teaching artists. These options include Pirate and Mermaid Tales, Creative Drama: Magic School Bus, Magic Suitcase (ASL Bilingual), and more!
Not ready to commit? They have one-time “You & Me” classes, allowing families to try out programming for one 45-minute session before signing up for anything longer-term. These “weekend workshops” are for ages 1-5 with their caregiver and involve exploring storytelling through dramatic play activities, movement, music and visual art. Saturday Song Circle and Sunday Fun Day are offered a few weekends throughout the fall, with select dates bilingual in Spanish/English.
Plus, catch Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood before it closes on October 27!
Based on the beloved stories by A.A. Milne, this show follows everyone’s favorite bear, surrounded by his friends Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Owl, in a frolicsome and gentle musical. Set during one busy day, there’s a Heffalump to catch, Eeyore’s tail to find, and a misunderstanding between Rabbit and Kanga to sort out. In the end, friendship and understanding win the day.
Winnie the Pooh is best for ages 3 and up, and runs until October 27, 2024. Shows are Saturdays and Sundays at 10am and 1pm. Tickets are $12 and up.

This post is sponsored by Imagination Stage, however, I only promote programs, places, and events that I genuinely believe in and think will appeal to KFDC readers.
