Honestly, my answer is simple. I unexpectedly lost my father on June 3 and since returning to DC, it has been extremely therapeutic to be with my son and husband. Going swimming, learning to teach my son to ride his new bike (birthday was June 28th) and just being outside has brought a sense of peace during this extremely difficult time. You learn to appreciate all the simple graces of life.

Taking my 73 year old Daddy camping for the first time in 32 years. He also tried kayaking for the first time on the trip. He loved it and has gone again since then. It was a special time for our family because my Mum died at the end of January, and she hadn’t been able to camp for years because she had severe rheumatoid arthritis. My Daddy was her care giver. They both always have/had the most positive attitudes and never let anything get them down.
