Ballerina, You Must Have Seen Her

I have to admit that I don’t know much about Angelina Ballerina. (Owen is into typical boy stuff—dinos, bugs, planets, poop—and Sasha isn’t quite at that stage of storybooks yet.) But even with little knowledge of the pirouetting mouse, the Angelina Ballerina Open House at the American Dance Institute sounds like an event any tiny dancer or Angelina fan would adore. (I know I would have gone absolutely gaga over it as as a little girl.)

This Sunday, April 25, from 12pm – 2pm, the ADI is celebrating National Dance Week with an interactive day of dance, and the storybook mouse heroine (who is also the spokes character for National Dance Week) is the prima ballerina. Not only will guests have a chance to meet Angelina, there will be lots of other fun activities to enjoy: dance performances by the ADI Chamber Ballet; Angelina-inspired arts and crafts; a ballet “petting zoo” showcasing real costumes, toes shoes, tutus, and props; dance lessons; and an interactive Angelina Ballerina story dance. To top it all off, admission is free.

Even though we won’t be attending this one, I’m inspired to get Sasha into her tutu (that’s right, she already has her very own poofy tulle skirt). Hopefully, when she’s a little older, we can go gaga together.
