It Isn’t Just for Breakfast Anymore

I’m going to file this one under “Special Treat if You’re Realllly Good and Listen to Mommy Allll Day.” A new eatery just opened in Cleveland Park, and while it’s likely to be family-friendly and a huge hit with kids, it probably won’t be your go-to place for a healthy meal. But, sometimes, that’s the whole point.

This sweet nirvana is The Cereal Bowl, a café that bases its entire menu on—you guessed it—cereal. With nearly 30 kinds of cereal and even more toppings, the bowl possibilities are practically endless. And there’s no pressure to come up with your own personal blend if you don’t want to; these guys have already done their mixing and created signature combos that sound like something I would have given up my Super Hair Barbie for back in the day. The Sweetest Thing is a concoction of Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Vanilla Wafers, and rainbow sprinkles. Then there’s Gimme S’more, a mix of Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs, Marshmallow Graham Bites, and chocolate chips. You get the idea.

But all hope of good nutrition is not lost—they also serve oatmeal, which can be topped with fruit, nuts, and/or granola. And their Beyond the Bowl selections include parfaits, oatmeal smoothies, and frozen yogurt (cereal flavored, of course).

The soft opening is this week; the grand opening is Saturday from 10am – 1pm.
