Get a peek into Alexandria’s past

1. Did you know there’s an archaeology museum in Alexandria?  Located within the Torpedo Factory, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum is a small but interesting space that’s worth a stop if you’re visiting the art center in Old Town. Several exhibits and displays offer insight into Alexandria’s history, many of them letting you handle bits of artifacts and get a close look at objects like pieces of wood from old ships. It’s located on the third floor, and visitors are welcome to pop-in for free. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 11am – 4pm, Saturday 11am – 5pm, and Sunday, 1-5pm.

2. This Friday (a DCPS day off), two awesome local places are partnering for one great experience! Planet Word, the museum all about language, is hosting a performance of Imagination Stage’s New Kid!  After the show, you can visit the galleries to reflect on the ways we use language to connect or divide.  Open to all ages, but best suited for kids in 3rd–5th grades and their families.  Admission is free, but tickets are required — reserve yours now, as they’re bound to go fast!

3.  Big game down the street (well, 45 minutes up I-95) this weekend!  Tickets for the Ravens vs. Chiefs AFC Playoff go on sale today at 10am! If you can’t score them through the official sale site, try to get seats here.

4. If you would prefer to watch on TV, check out the best sports bars around DC, according to Eater.

5. Random, but a fun quick read (and could be helpful).
