Five Things: June 11, 2024

1. Next time you’re at National Harbor, bring the kids to the The Belvedere, a space next to the Plaza overlooking the waterfront.  Not only does it offer great views of the Potomac, below your feet is a 1600-square-foot mural that highlights the history and geography of Maryland, Virginia, and DC. Over 70 elements of local history and lore are included, and benches along the sides of the mural are etched with prompts to find them, which makes for a fun activity with kids! See what else there is to do at the resort locale in this KFDC post (it’s from several years back,  but all of the activities mentioned are still there).

2. As the school year is ending for kids around the area, don’t forget about the awesome Regal Summer Movie Express that shows films for just $1 every Tuesday and Wednesday at 11am through the summer.  See what other special entertainment kids can enjoy during the season.

3. Recipes for Father’s Day…yum!

4. And a great Father’s Day gift idea:  Have his favorite faraway food delivered to him! Goldbelly, an online marketplace of well-known purveyors from all over, can ship signature meals and treats to dads. Think lobster rolls from Maine, pizza from New York and Chicago, BBQ from Texas, and so much more. (I had them send my Philly born-and-bred dad cheesesteaks for his birthday, and he absolutely loved it.)

5. This may resonate more with those who were around DC in the 90’s and early 2000’s, but look what’s coming back!
