Giveaway! Sing Down the Moon: Appalachian Wonder Tales at Adventure Theatre

Adventure Theatre is bringing some toe-tapping, all-ages appealing, fun and enchanting entertainment to its stage.  Sing Down the Moon: Appalachian Wonder Tales opens this weekend, presenting four charming stories in one award-winning musical.  Even more, you have a chance to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to see it!

Journey into the Appalachian Mountains in this award-winning musical that deftly weaves four traditional tales and original music into a keepsake quilt of mountain lore and wisdom for the whole family. Jack who lands himself a job despite his foolishness. “Catskins” is a spunky Appalachian Cinderella. “The Enchanted Tree” is a beauty-and-the-beast love story between a lost girl and a frightening crow. And in a zany, sung-through “Sow and Her Three Pigs” plucky Nancy the pig outsmarts the hungry fox. This play with music incorporates singing, mountain dances, music, and puppets to create a highly theatrical storytelling style. The score, which interweaves music throughout the tales, is inspired by “Old Time” Appalachian music featuring fiddle and banjo that drives the play’s action and makes music itself a character in the play.

Sing Down the Moon: Appalachian Wonder Tales is running April 26 – May 26 with performances both during the week and on weekends.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online. Of course, you can also try to win them through the giveaway below.

This park is beautiful at any time of the year, but spring time is really when everything is in bloom, full of color, and the airs smells fragrant with flowers! You can take a walk along a trail, see turtles in the pond,

Arboretum, with it’s youth garden and recreation center playground, is where we live going often. Though last week we followed your advice and went to Annmarie sculpture garden for the first time. Fairyland was magical even on a rainy cold day!

My grandsons and I love to be outside in the spring enjoying their Olney Boys & Girls Club (OBGC) Soccer and TBall teams. Montgomery County has so many beautiful parks and playgrounds, such as Brookside Gardens.

Our favorite springtime activity is to spend a day at Glen Echo Park (particularly on opening day for the carousel), where we ride the carousel with our two kids, enjoy a picnic lunch, see a puppet show, ride the carousel some more, and wrap up with some delicious ice cream. It’s a lovely way to kick off spring!

My favorite spring activity is taking a family walk through Woodend Sanctuary. We admire nature in all its glory – looking up at the cornflower blue sky while standing in the warmth of the sun to watch the green leaves rustle to the gentle sound of the wind.

Visiting the various farmers’ markets that start to bloom with fresh produce and artisanal goods as the weather warms up. The Dupont Circle Farmers Market is particularly popular, offering a vibrant selection of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, baked goods, and more. It’s a great way to experience local flavors and support regional farmers while enjoying the pleasant spring atmosphere in the city

My favorite spring activity is exploring Great Falls National Park (I’m partial to the Maryland side). The trails are scenic and the wildlife are especially active in the spring. We also love exploring Passport DC and seeing all the culture, music, and food DC’s many embassies have to offer!
