A printing press demonstration at the Folger Shakespeare Library

1. The Folger Shakespeare Library is welcoming visitors again — to part of it, anyway — after being closed for a three-year renovation!  The Folger Theatre recently reopened with a new production of The Winter’s Tale, running through December 17.  The rest will open in 2024 — the date is till TBA — with some new, fascinating exhibits, including a reconstructed 17th-century printing press and the First Folio along with other rare books from Shakespeare’s era. Even more exhibits and activities will be coming, among them a Learning Lab for guests of all ages.  Stay tuned for more soon!  In the meantime, you can read about the Shakespeare Folger Library pre-renovation in this KFDC post. [Note: The above photo is from a media preview; demos aren’t available to the public… yet.]

2. If you’re planning to be downtown today, be aware of road closures for the March of Israel taking place in the National Mall.  This WTOP article has details on which roads will be closed to vehicle traffic.

3.In case you missed it yesterday, the 2023 KFDC Holiday Gift Guide was posted!  Highlighting DC-inspired gift ideas — experiences and places that showcase  the incredible, dynamic city that is Washington, DC — it’s just part of the recommendations I’ll be sharing.  Look for a gift guide for the t(w)een scene and adults soon, and check out one for the 8 & under crowd here.

4. It’s seems early for Black Friday shopping, but there are some really good deals here (examples: this and this and this.)

5. Preparing myself for this next year. 😂😭
