Five Things for Today: May 26, 2020

A Fairy Art Studio from a past visit to Annmarie Sculpture Garden

1. The grounds of Annmarie Sculpture Garden in Calvert County have reopened and are a lovely place to enjoy an art-filled stroll. Even better, their wonderful annual fairy house exhibit is back making the walk through the woods and garden even more delightful. The Fairy Lolly playground and Arts Building are still closed, and visitors must maintain safe social distance from others. Open 10am – 5pm, and a donation of $7/car is suggested. Read more about Annmarie here and here.

2. And for a related activity at home with kids, make your own fairy garden or fairy house. Find ideas and inspiration for it here, here, here, and here.

3. DC primaries are June 2, and today is the deadline to request an absentee ballot to vote by mail. Download the request form here and email the completed PDF to [email protected]

4. ‘Tis the season for chilled soup! (On a personal note, cold soup is one of my favorite food groups — gazpacho, anyone? It’s also a good strategy for trying to get picky eaters to eat more veggies.)

5. Mmmm…cheese.
