Our 17-year-old cat, Eli, a sweet subject of Sasha’s photography ventures that will likely fill a lot of her at-home time
This is a strange, unprecedented time. The coronavirus and its effects have impacted everyone — in both ways that we all share and ways that are unique to our particular situations. For me, it’s obviously affected KidFriendly DC given that it covers events and activities and places to go, just about all of which are canceled and closed right now. Sure, I could use this as a chance to take a break, but I like being productive and providing a useful resource to the DC community. So, instead of guiding readers as they navigate DC with kids, maybe I can help during this uncertain time by disseminating practical information, offering suggestions, and providing some smiles and laughs. These links, hopefully, do all of that, and I have even more ideas to come. And if there’s anything you’d like to see covered, feel free to let me know. In the meantime, stay healthy and safe!
* Washington City Paper’s very updated list of closures and cancellations.
* A quick comparison of symptoms.
* The Dos and Don’ts of Social Distancing.
* How to Help Others in the COVID-19 Crisis
* In the same vein as above, locally there is this.
* Tips for working from home. (I do and can vouch they are good.)
* Virtual Circle Time for those with little ones.
* Virtual museum tours while ours are closed.
* Italians in coronavirus lockdown sing together.โค๏ธ๐ฎ๐น
* Perhaps the best email addressing coronavirus I’ve read so far.
* Right now, we can all use the smile this will bring.
* From The Borowitz Report… (Had to.)
Do you have some good, relevant links to share right now? If so, please do in the comments below!
Does the article you posted from the link above really solve any problems or offer any help? (The Borowitz โReportโ). During this uneasy time, letโs do our best to promote positive comments. Letโs look at all the good things everyone has done for us! Step above the pettiness!
Probably not, but as mentioned, I also wanted to provide some smiles and laughs, and for a lot of us, that article does that. Given the immense frustration and anger I feel about how coronavirus has been handled by the president, I actually exercised a LOT of restraint in only posting that one.
Thanks for this. Much appreciated!
Also, is there an alternate link to the Fatherly email? That one won’t work for me. The Borowitz piece made me laugh and I passed it onto family members, so please keep them coming! ๐
I’ve updated the Fatherly with one that works (sorry about that), so try again now (be sure to click thru form the blog, not your email). Glad you enjoyed the Borowitz link – they often make me ๐
Thanks for posting Linda–appreciate it all!
I have an idea that I’d like to share: my family started a virtual club–it’s me, my adult daughter, my teenage daughter, and my mom, who’s in her 70s. Every morning at 9:00 we meet via Google hangouts–though it could be any platform–to share projects we’ve been working on (we’re crafty!) and generally support each other–virtually. So far it’s been fun for all, and since my mom lives by herself in another state, it’s something positive we can do. Our secret club handshake is no handshake!
I love this idea, Angela! Thanks so much for sharing.
your post are amazing.
