This one, to me, is the holiday market in DC. It’s not even so much about the merchandise for sale (though there’s always a great variety of gift items — I never leave empty handed). There’s something about the usually bustling block in the middle of Penn Quarter transforming into an open air market for a few weeks that is so charming and kind of magical, making our big city feel like a small town. 1. I so so so love your site, it is like my guide to motherhood in DC 😂 Love seeing how the site has grown with you and your kids too! (I have two little ones myself). Just a thought that occurred to me while going through your Christmas post: would love to see a community service/volunteering “activity of the week” in the weekly roundup, to remind us to give back to our community – what do you think? Thanks for all your recommendations!

    • Linda @ KidFriendly DC

Hi Sanaa – That’s so great to hear you’ve been enjoying my blog! And I love the idea for a volunteer activity in each round-up. I always include them when someone asks (you may have seen there is one included for this weekend), but perhaps I’ll do a little more digging to find more. Thanks for the suggestion!

  2. Marie Cha

Long time follower! You guys are the best. This guide is amazing! I just shared it with all of my girlfriends. This must have taken forever to write! Thank you for all of your hard work every week. I don’t know how y’all are even more popular!!!

    • Linda @ KidFriendly DC

Hi Maria – Thank you so much for your note and for sharing the guide! It’s a work in progress that grows every year. But I love putting it together because I know (hope, anyway!) it helps readers navigate the holiday season and all there is to do here. Enjoy!

  3. This Christmas season, help us celebrate the joy of the journey through Bethlehem! On December 7th and 8th, from 6:00-8:00 pm, Christ Crossman will be opening it’s doors to our community to guide them through historical Bethlehem, where friends and families of all ages can enjoy a petting zoo, snacks, crafts, and a community service project.

  4. Holly

Great list! Just FYI, the Mormon temple is in Kensington, not Rockville. So for those visiting from DC like me, it’s even closer!
