Kids Can Sing Their Way to Center Court at the Legg Mason

Can your kids belt out a tune like Andy Roddick puts away a backhand? If so, they have a chance to show it at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, one of Washington’s premiere annual sporting events.

This year’s tournament will be held from July 30 – August 7 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. But before the first ball is served, organizers are holding auditions for talented local youngsters to have a chance to sing the National Anthem before a stadium crowd.  Along with performing live, winners will also receive four tickets to Arthur Ashe Kids Day on August 27 at this year’s US Open tournament.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 4, from 11 am – 3pm, on the third floor of the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.  Kids between the ages of 6 and 12 (as of July 30, 2011) are invited to try out. Full audition rules and details, required release forms, and a pre-registration form can be found on the Legg Mason Tennis Classic website.

Hopefuls will be asked to sing a portion of the National Anthem a cappella, and the selection will be at the sole and absolute discretion of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic judges.  Multiple winners will be selected.
