It’s never too soon to start thinking about summer plans, especially when you need a perk on a dreary winter day, and especially when the Capitol Skyline Hotel pool has an Early Bird Offer on summer memberships.
If you’re not familiar with the pool, here’s the scoop: It’s like South Beach comes to Southwest DC, with mod couches in bright orange pleather, a double row of lounge chairs lining the competition-sized pool, and a low-key vacation vibe that makes you forget the nation’s powerhouse is just a few blocks away. And if this sounds like it’s more for “The Hills” crowd than families, have no worries. On weekdays and certain times on the weekends, the scene is definitely more Nickelodeon than MTV.
The hotel began offering seasonal pool memberships for both families and singles last summer. The response was so good, they are starting early this year with discounted rates for the first 50 single and first 50 family memberships. If you join soon, singles are $250, families are $400, and both include: pool usage 7 days/week, 10% off at their Lapidus restaurant, 20% off catered events, access to all hotel sponsored events, and a special $109 room rate. Guests can also pay a daily rate of $15 (kids 3 and under are free), so do the math and see if the membership is worth it. Stay-at-home parents with a child under 4 should consider the single membership if your other half will only join occasionally on the weekends.
