Saturday Story Time in Georgetown

Two great story-related events are happening in Georgetown this Saturday, October 23, and both welcome families to come and enjoy.

First, well-known storyteller Baba Jamal Koram will share his inspirational stories at the Georgetown “Social” Safeway café. Koram’s readings are traditional to African American Griot. His pieces are used to encourage and uplift the growth of children and to create positivity within communities. His innovative and creative storytelling will be told in traditional folkloric culture from 9:30 – 11am.  The Georgetown Safeway is located at 1855 Wisconsin Avenue NW.

From there, head to the Georgetown Library for it’s Grand Opening Party.  The newly renovated building just reopened a few days ago, and the public is invited to help celebrate the occasion.  From 10am – 4pm, there will be loads for guests of all ages to enjoy: Libropoly, a life-sized game about historic Georgetown; art activities; face painting; live entertainment, including a Kids Euro Fest performance; pumpkin decorating; beading workshops;  library tours; and more. The Georgetown Library is located at 3260 R Street NW.
