Five Things for Today: November 18, 2020

1. In case you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a new post about our recent visit to Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. The fall landscape is lovely there, and roaming around the expansive grounds, exploring all of the tucked away areas and vast open spaces,  is a great way to enjoy a day out with kiddos. It’s open sunrise to sunset, and admission is free.  For more energy-burning activity, pair it up with a visit to the playground at Wheaton Regional Park, which is an easy 10-minute drive from Brookside.

2. Starting tomorrow, November 19, through Saturday, November 21, the National Gallery of Art is hosting this month’s  Virtual Artful Conversations.  During these sessions, explore how careful looking at a work of art can inspire mindful movement, as Alicia Sokol, a Washington, DC-based movement specialist and owner of barre3 14th Street, joins the program.  Recommended for ages 7-12 and an adult companion.  Free registration is required.

3. This one’s for parents: It’s DC Cocktail Week, with special food and drink pairings at restaurants around the area as well as virtual happenings, too!

4. If you want to take something off your figurative plate next week (and put some good stuff on your literal one), here is a round-up of places offering take out Thanksgiving dinner around DC from Washingtonian.

5. Every Hallmark movie ever 😂
