Five Things for Today: July 21, 2020

Seen on a recent neighborhood walk

1. A KFDC reader let me know about another sunflower bloom that sounds a-maze-ing! Goldpetal Farms in Southern Maryland has a “Walking on Sunshine” 7-acre maze open. Even more, they are hosting “Catch the Comet” events tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday nights to view and photograph Comet NEOWISE.

2. All are invited to join the Washington Revels for a virtual Community Sing this evening from 6:30-7:45pm. It takes place on the 21st of every month, and tonight they’re sharing American Roots Music and celebrating National Ice Cream Month. It’s free, but donations are encouraged to help support their guest artists.

3. In case you missed my Facebook post about it yesterday, here’s some “wild” news: The National Zoo is reopening this Friday, July 24! Hours are 8am – 4pm, and free, timed entry passes will be required — reserve them here.

4. To celebrate National Ice Cream Month, Traders Joes is kicking off The TJ’s Ice Cream Sandwich Contest. Using five or fewer Trader Joes products, create an original Ice Cream Sandwich, snap a photo, then post it to Instagram with the hashtag #TJsIceCreamSandwichContest for a chance to win a $200 TJ’s gift card (and for a great excuse to make some delicious ice cream sammy combos, obvi). The link has details, and be sure to read all the instructions!

5. Haha…yup.
