Five Things for Today: May 11, 2020

A first-ever attempt at sourdough

1. How about an at-home activity that gives back to others? Volunteer in a Box is a brand new offering that gives kids the opportunity to volunteer from the comfort of their own home. Children can learn about helping those in need in a fun, hands-on way. Project boxes are delivered directly to your home and include all supplies, easy to follow directions, and a curriculum guide. Three different projects are currently available that focus on different populations in need.

2. This evening at 6pm, join a free Superhero Family Yoga session with The Station at Riverdale Park. Ari Isaacman Bevacqua of Yoga District will be leading this wellness class for the whole family — it’s the Kryptonite to cabin fever! Wear your favorite Superhero costume and share on Instagram (tag @thestationrp) to enter to win a family meal for 4 to District Taco! Register for the class here.

3. A list of the 17 best video games to play with kids.

4. Relationship advice for couples under stress during COVID-19. (Esther Perel’s podcast “Where Should We Begin?” is great listen, too!)

5. So, I jumped on the sourdough bandwagon. And while my first attempt didn’t turn out the best loaf, the process of making it was fun and interesting, so I will be trying again. A friend gave me starter with a recommendation to follow this sourdough master class, and I also Googled a few others. (The guides were good, it was me who messed up.)
