Arena Stage is easily one of my favorite theaters in the area, with productions that are evocative, clever, heartwarming, informative, timely, and always (always) thoroughly entertaining. But while tween ages and up can appreciate many of the shows, there aren’t a lot of opportunities for younger children to enjoy an experience at the Southwest DC venue.
That’s one of the reasons why their annual Community Day, taking place this Saturday, August 25, is so fantastic. All ages are welcome and encouraged to join Arena Stage in celebrating the upcoming 2018-19 season. The day will be full of activities that the whole family can enjoy — live music, face painting, dance performances, storytelling, delicious cuisine from restaurants in the Southwest neighborhood, and much, much more!
The great line-up of fun and entertainment running from 12-6pm is another great reason to go. Along with a variety of performances by local artists, you can get in on the action, too! Learn how to juggle, dance to beat of Cole Porter, discover the rhythms and sounds of Russian dance, and join a percussive dance workshop with SOLE Defined. Little ones can enjoy a pony ride with Ponies Unlimited. You can even meet, adopt, and go home with your new best friend — the Humane Rescue Alliance’s mobile adoption vehicle will be onsite with adoptable cats and dogs.
Even more, Community Day is completely FREE! Further information, including the complete schedule of activities, is available on the Arena Stage website. Of course,
