Fe-fi-fo-fum….there’s a new puppet show on the horizon! After several week’s hiatus since the last production, The Puppet Co. at Glen Echo Park is about to present it’s newest performance on the theater’s main stage. Jack and the Beanstalk will start delighting young audiences this Thursday, February 17, and will run through April 10.
The Puppet Co.’s website describes the production as “a timely version of the classic children’s tale about the young lad that doesn’t know beans about trading, but still manages to climb his way to the top. The first half of the story follows the familiar track, but the second half turns into a rescue of the Giant’s servant, rather than the traditional crime spree found in most versions. Jack finds that happiness lies in helping others rather than mere personal gain. Told with rod puppets and some surprising twists, Jack has long been a favorite of our audiences.”
Recommended for ages 5 and older, the show’s running time is about 45 minutes. Showtimes are 10am and 11:30am on Thursday and Friday, 11:30am and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the box office.
