Want to see Andy Roddick crush a 130-mph serve, Lleyton Hewitt smash a forehand cross-court, or James Blake handle the net like a hockey goalie (a really good one)? You might have the opportunity very soon when the Legg Mason Tennis Classic brings professional tennis action to the city starting this weekend. From July 31 – August 8, some of the most exciting men’s tennis players will take court at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. (You might also try to find deals on StubHub.)
The Classic is a fun, action-packed event for your family and a great contribution to the city. Part of the proceeds from the Legg Mason Tennis Classic benefits the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF). The WTEF seeks to improve the life prospects for DC area youth, particularly those from lower-income communities, through tennis, educational and community-based activities that teach discipline, build self-esteem and improve academic performance.
